This transition opened new opportunities for us. Without geographical boundaries, Dhaan Music School began to receive enquiries from across Australia and even internationally. Today, in 2024, we proudly have students from Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Queensland, Sydney, and internationally from India, Malaysia, Fiji, and France.
We cater to a diverse range of age groups, from Pre-Kinder children to 75-year-old students. Our family has grown to 150 students and continues to expand.
At Dhaan Music School, we believe that there is no age limit to learning music—true love and passion are all you need to begin your musical journey.

WELCOME TO DHAAN MUSIC SCHOOL
Dhaan Music School was founded in 2014 by Ms. Jenany Abarnasuthan as a humble home-based endeavour with just five students. Our initial performances were small, including festival events at the local temple. However, through word of mouth, more students and parents began to enquire about our classes.
By the end of 2019, our school had grown steadily to 75 students. Like many others, we faced the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Determined not to let our students’ musical journey be interrupted, we embraced the digital platform. Transitioning to online classes via Zoom, we seamlessly scheduled and trained parents on how to attend these virtual sessions.

About founder
Mrs. Jenany Abarnasuthan
Ms. Jenany Abarnasuthan, the founder of Dhaan Music School, has dedicated her life to the pursuit and teaching of Carnatic music. Her journey began at the tender age of five, under the guidance of her first Guru, Dr. Dhanalakshmi. By the age of 17, she had completed her Arangetram, a significant milestone for any classical dancer or musician.
Jenany’s musical journey continued with her second Guru, Smt. Sailakshmi from Hyderabad, a disciple of the renowned Smt. Lalitha, known as one of the Hyderabad Sisters. Jenany’s passion and dedication led her to learn from the great musician Dr. Nithyashree Mahadevan at DKM Sangeetha Paani, further enriching her musical prowess.
Currently, Jenany is training under Sangeetha Bhushanam Smt. Sharmila, a disciple of Kumara Kerala Varma from Kerala, continuously refining her skills and deepening her understanding of Carnatic music.
In addition to her extensive training, Jenany has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Carnatic Music and a diploma in voice culture. Her commitment to excellence is evident in her impressive performance record. She has performed across various regions, including Melbourne, Western Australia, Canberra, and Queensland. Her talent has also been showcased at numerous temple festivals in India and at the University of Jaffna.
Despite her busy teaching schedule, Jenany continues to perform in Melbourne during Navaratri and at special festivals held at local temples and organizations. Her ongoing performances reflect her enduring passion for music and her desire to share this art with the community.
Under her leadership, Dhaan Music School has flourished, becoming a beacon for aspiring musicians and a hub for cultural enrichment. Jenany’s journey and achievements inspire her students, demonstrating that with dedication and love for music, anything is possible.
